2012 NFL Schedule
The NFL schedule was released last week. The highlight for me will be the Lions in Chicago on October 22 for a Monday night game.

Draft 2012
Just one week and a handful of hours until the 2012 NFL Draft. I've really enjoyed them the last few years as Detroit has been doing a great job getting talent and meeting needs.
All five analysts at http://www.nfl.com/draft/2012 have predicted the same first five pick which pretty much guarantees that those will NOT be the first five players taken. Two of the three have the Lions taking offensive tackle Mike Adams with the 23rd pick. If that happens, I'll be pretty happy. I think that with the talent left at that spot, and the troublesome cornerbacks that we should pass on, he would be a great possible replacment for Jeff Backus in a year or two.
I'll also be very interested in seeing where Michigan State's Jerel Worthy and Kirk Cousins end up going. I think Cousins would be a nice pick for the Lions in one of the later rounds if he's still available. Not sure if he has the physical skills for the NFL or not but he definitely has the leadership skills to excel.

Fantasy Baseball
Over this past weekend I participated in my first in-person, live draft. Twelve teams picked 19 players per team for a whopping total of 228 total picks. There are actually 25 total players on each roster. Every team kept 6 players for the previous year's roster.
It was a lot of fun pretending we were each major league GMs that were experts at evaluating talent and acquiring the players we needed to achieve a championship. As a rookie, possibly quite foolishly, I traded away the number one pick (Albert Pujols was the highest rank player available). In return, I received a 3rd, a 6th, and a 10th round pick. That left me with no first rounder and my first pick, Hanley Ramirez, came early in the 2nd.
Later in the draft I took a gamble on Yoenis Cespedes in the 13th round. I wasn't feeling too sure about that until hearing today that he has been named the opening day starting center fielder moving Coco Crisp to left.
It should be fun.

Jaworski out of Monday Night Football
Great Yahoo article reporting the demotion of ESPNs Ron Jaworski from Monday Night Football.
Maybe now we'll get to hear commentary about what is actually happening on the field and not a rehash of the promotional material outlined before the game. Maybe now I don't have to mute the sound after 1 quarter.

Go Giants!
I was well off the final score but at least I picked winner. As I predicted, out of the NFC came the champion.
